Ignorance is destroyed by the Spiritual Master

When the darkness of ignorance is destroyed from the heart then there remains no duality of night and day or beginning and end. At this stage only the auspicious Lord who is indestructible and worshipable even to the Sungod imparts knowledge through the ancient chain of disciplic succession.”

yada tamah tatra diva na ratrir na san na casam-chiva eva kevalah
tad aksaram tat savitur varesyam prajna ca tasmat prasrta purani

PURPORT BY SRI KRSNA BALARAM SWAMIJI

When darkness of ignorance dissipates from the heart at that time a glimpse of Absolute Truth starts manifesting to the practitioner. In the Yajnavalkya Smruti it is stated, asid idam tamo bhutam, “When one’s ignorance from the heart is destroyed then only does the knowledge of the Lord manifest in the heart.” The Bhagavad Gita (15.5) also describes about how a person who knows how to surrender to the Lord becomes free from these dualities. The condition is given here that one has to follow all the scriptural rules and practice spiritual life descending from the ancient and unbroken chain of disciplic succession then only good results can be experienced. For example, the Puja Paddhati states:

yavan na diyate carghyam bhaskaraya vidhanatah
tavan na pujayed Visnu sankaram va suresvari

“As long as one has not worshipped the Sungod with respectful offerings of water and mantras, till that long, one is not allowed to worship Lord Visnu, Lord Siva or any other demigod or goddesses.” But after accepting a scripturally authentic Spiritual Master this law of worshipping the Sungod becomes replaced by their Spiritual Master.
